Senlis to Paris

Day 8 and 9.

Ansell stage of Ride to the Rock for Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

My head feels like it’s still catching up on recent events!

We have a song to support our Ride to the Rock called “I can do it’ ( on sale on bandcamp) and I’ve only gone and done it.

I said Yes! Well I said yes after other words like – What’s going on, what are you doing, is this for real ….

Andy and 2 of our friends – Andy and Marina met us in Paris on Wednesday. Yes they apparently knew the plan. We all went out into Paris – I knew nothing and we enjoyed the Parisian culture. We arrived at some grassy area with the the Eiffel Tower poking its body out from behind some trees.

I was enjoying some downtime with Marina.

The heat here must have really gone to my head.

Here look – here’s proof! Top to bottom – My nanas wedding ring, my engagement ring and Andys nans eternity ring.

I never thought I would be asked to be married or for Andy to ask me. I have always been content with myself and who I am. Other people get married – I congratulate them and now I’m getting g messages of this kind.

Thank you.

Back to the ride.

Left over pizza for breakfast. That’s life on the road.

We took the direct route from Senlis to Paris. This meant heavy traffic cycling. We could have taken the countryside route – this would have been a longer ride.

Though after discussion Andy and I figured – let’s just go direct. Let’s take the shorted route. Little did I know why Andy wanted to get to Paris as soon as pos. The road surface was rough, the cars whizzed by , and we peddled – quickly!

Overhead we clearly saw airplanes flying heading to the Charles de Gaulle Airport. This was a site to see!! We were on the Charles de Gaulle flight path.

We both fancied a coffee and to settle the nerves from cycling on the busy route into Paris. So we stopped for coffee in Louvres. Louvres is about 8 miles from Paris. Here we met Issy and Anthony. We bonded. Issy has been the local counsellor 2 times running. He is full of passion for the local people!

We said our goodbyes and headed for Paris. The ride from here was mostly residential with people shopping or heading out with the dog.

Arriving at the hotel around midday – we had lots of hugs with our friends Andy and Marina. They were already there – I knew they were coming. We’ve been friends for 5 years and this was our anniversary of first meeting in Montenegro – on our holidays.

After we unpacked, showered, put the bikes in storage – we headed out to Paris on the metro. From here to the Champs de Elysees and on to the Eiffel Tower.

You know the rest. Andy was nervous and I was in shock – for the rest of the afternoon and yesterday we enjoyed Paris.

Catch up soon.
