Venarey Les Laumes To Woodland near Creancy

Day 14.

Ansell Stage of Ride to the Rock for Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF)

Tonight we are camping on the wild side.

The bikes are hidden behind shrubs and trees and so are we. We are surrounded by the noise of birds chatting to their friends and the odd caterpillar has crawled on the netting above my head. We are their guests for the night.

This morning we set off to cycle on the Canal de Bourgogne – just after 0900.

Jonathan Cowap from BBC Radio York called to interview us around 10:00 am. This was prearranged. He’s really easy to chat with and such a nice guy! We had a good catch up talking about our cycle journey and how it’s going.

Just like a catch up with a friend you’ve not seen for a while.

Today was beautiful cycling along the Bourgogne canal and through wood lined cycle ways.

Here’s Andy cycling along unsuspectingly.

And here we are cycling together.

The weather was a mix bag today. A little overcast and a little sunny.

The ride was slow because Andy wasn’t feeling on top form. We aren’t sure if he’s picked caught my cold – best he throws this in the canal tomorrow! Unfortunately I’m still holding onto my cough and my bumper pack of tissues are running low.

So we thought it best to have an early night and have a peaceful night with the animals in the woods.

I’ll leave my last favourite part of my day to the lovely French man I met this morning.

Goodnight and thank you for your support.

Tomorrow – destination Dijon .
